Child Safety / Safeguarding

SAKA and its member clubs are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people who train with us.

Interim template

This page is a best-practice template, published so the site has a safeguarding statement from day one. It has not yet been reviewed or formally adopted by the SAKA committee — treat it as a placeholder, not SAKA’s final policy, until it is.

Our commitment

Every child and young person who trains at a SAKA member club has the right to feel safe, respected and free from harm. Coaches, instructors and volunteers are expected to act in the best interests of children at all times, both on and off the training floor.

Working with Children Check

Instructors and volunteers who work directly with children are expected to hold a current South Australian Working With Children Check (WWCC), in line with state requirements for people working with young people in sport.

Photos and video

We only use photos or video of children with the consent of a parent or guardian, and never identify a child by name alongside their image without that consent.

Reporting a concern

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child at a SAKA club, raise it with that club’s head instructor in the first instance, or contact SAKA directly. In an emergency, or if a child is at immediate risk, contact SA Police on 000.
