2026 State Individuals Championships

The South Australian Kendo State Individual Championships will be held at Pridham Hall on Sunday 13 September 2026, 8:00am to 1:00pm. This is an individuals event with seven divisions: Junior Individuals, Women’s Ungraded–4 Kyu, Women’s 3 Kyu–1 Kyu, Men’s Ungraded–4 Kyu, Men’s 3 Kyu–1 Kyu, Women’s Dan, and Men’s Dan.

Eligibility: open to current members of SAKA-affiliated clubs. Junior Individuals competitors must be 14–17 years old on the day of competition; all other divisions require competitors to be 18 or older.

Key dates: competitor registrations close Sunday 30 August 2026, 8:00pm, to allow time to verify eligibility and prepare the draw. Withdrawals are fully refundable up to Sunday 6 September 2026, when the pools are drawn — withdrawals after that point are not refunded.

Format: preliminary rounds run as a pool system, with all matches 4 minutes (the organising committee may reduce this if required). The 1st and 2nd place finishers in the Kyu divisions may opt in to also compete in the division immediately above. AKC technique restrictions (no tsuki, jodan-no-kamae or nito) apply throughout, including in the Junior Individuals division. Club nafuda are required — a clearly labelled temporary alternative is accepted if a competitor doesn’t have a conforming one.
